These tips will help you do just that in order to drop weight and get you motivated.

Generally people will lose weight more quickly at first but as your body adjusts you will begin to lose weight at about 1 to 2 pounds a week.  This slower weight loss is what experts recommend and is the healthy approach. 

These quick weight loss tips are healthy tips and will get you started on your weight loss progress.  They are not a fad diet approach nor do I recommend any quick weight loss pills.  However, taking vitamins and supplements for some people may be beneficial you can usually get all the nutrients you need just by eating healthy.



Quick Weight Loss Tip #1 – Get Active



No More Couch Potato

For a quick weight loss you must get active.  Get up off the couch and do something that gets you moving like gardening, cleaning house or going up and down the stairs to do laundry.  Even these activities will help burn calories and speed up your metabolism.

Play for Fun – Play for Weight Loss

You can add even more activity in your life by adding some fun activities.  Shoot basketball hoops in the driveway with your children or go for a family bike ride or even an evening stroll around the block.  You can even play video games for additional fun activities like the Wii Fit game.  The more active you are the more calories and fat you will burn and the faster you will lose weight.

Structured Exercisesexercising

This is the most important quick weight loss tip.  If you want to lose weight quicker then you need to add a structured exercise routine to your weight loss plan.  Exercise not only helps burn more calories and fat but helps build lean muscle mass.  This helps increase your metabolic rate and increases your overall calories burned in a day.  Aim for at least 30 minutes a day of some form of structured exercise. 

Make sure to include both aerobics and strength training in your weekly exercise routine.  This way you are getting the benefits of burning calories and building muscles.  You will also help tighten and tone both muscles and bone by exercising.



Quick Weight Loss Tip #2 - Choose the Right Drinks

No Alcohol

This is one quick weight loss tip many people are not aware of.  But another way to ensure a quick weight loss is to eliminate all alcohol.  Alcohol tends to be high in calories and offers no nutritional value.  Also when alcohol is introduced into the body your body will first use this as fuel for energy.  This means that the foods you ate are left to be stored as fat.  Alcohol also tends to lead to bad decisions such as overeating or eating the wrong foods.

Switch to Diet Drinks

If you drink regular flavored sodas then switch to diet.  Just this one change will show quick results in your weight loss.  Watch out for the fruit drinks as well.  Fruit drinks are also high in calories and these can add up quickly.  Minimize to one fruit drink a day or water them down. 

More Water

Even better for you than diet soda and fruit drinks if you are trying to lose weight quickly is to drink more water.  Start your day with a glass of water and have a glass of water before each meal.  If you have been drinking 8 glasses of water a day then try drinking 10 glasses a day.  Water can help suppress your appetite and make you feel full faster.

Green Tea

Green tea has become the latest and greatest weight loss craze.  Like coffee, green tea has caffine which is known to speed up the metabolism.  But in addition green tea has Epigallo Gallate also known as EGCG.  This is thought to be the secret ingredient in green tea that aids in weight loss.  Research suggests that drinking 5 cups of green tea a day can help burn 70 to 80 more calories.


Quick Weight Loss #3 - Eat the Right Foods

Grapefruit

This quick weight loss tip was made famous by the grapefruit diet.  By adding a ½ grapefruit 3 times a day you can rev up your fat burning furnace.  This is just one of many metabolism booster foods but is one that really helps.  Studies show that by including ½ grapefruit 3 times a day people lost more weight faster.

Low Fat / Non Fat

To lose weight quicker you need to watch not only your calories but the intake of fat.  Reduce fat where you can and focus on only the good fats.  Switch to skim milk and non fat cheeses.  Once you get used the taste it’s no so bad. 

Lean and Mean

Make your food choices as lean as possible and as natural as possible.  The leaner your meat selections are the less fat you will be getting.  Also, foods in their natural state offer the most nutritional value.  Unprocessed foods also tend to be lower in calories and fat content.  If you have to buy processed foods like breads and cereals, make them whole grain selections.  These will add the needed dietary fiber in your diet.

No Sugar

Okay you probably cannot cut out all sugar as many food items contain sugar. But to lose weight quickly you want to minimize the amount of refined sugar you consume.  Refined sugar is high in calories and offers no nutritional value.  Look for sugar free or sugar substitute foods instead.

No Junk Food

This includes potato chips, cookies, pies.....you know what foods I'm talking about.  For that jump start quick weight loss eliminate all snacking and sneaking in the junk food.  This will help you drop weight and curb your cravings.  

But remember, most diets that limit your intake of certain foods and don't allow for a treat now and again tend to fail.  This is because your cravings will eventually get the best of you.  So only use these quick weight loss tips for the short term and then once you have dropped some pounds, then switch to your long term weight loss eating plan.

No Fast Food

The problem with eating at fast food restaurants is that you don’t know exactly how many calories are in the foods you are eating.  They also tend to be higher in fats and are processed foods.  For a faster weight loss you should try to avoid fast food for awhile until you have dropped the fast weight loss you are looking for.



Quick Weight Loss Tip #4 – Watch Portion Size

When eating out watch your portion sizes carefully.  Don’t feel the need to eat everything as the portions tend to be larger.  Ask for a doggie back or order from the children’s menu.  Make sure to select healthy meals from the menu as well.

Eat in the Kitchen

Studies have shown that people who eat in front of the TV tend to eat larger portions.  This is because your mind is focused on the television show and you are subconsiously more.

Eating in the kitchen is another great way to get some quality family time. This will give you a time to catch up on your family's day.  Also, by eating in the kitchen and having a nice family conversation, you are automatically eating slower.  This will allow your brain time to tell your stomach when you are full, avoiding overeating.
