What
Inspired you to lose weight?

I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes with my third and last pregnancy at age 37. I was having headaches after the pregnancy
and just not feeling well, I thought it was from having a sick newborn.
Finally, at six months, I went to see the doctor to be checked for the
headaches, and I found out I had put on 15 extra pounds. It was so
depressing.
I also found out I have Type 2 diabetes that was
even more depressing. I was determined right then that I was going to
get the weight off, and I did! My husband and kids mean the world to
me. Being able to live a long life was an important factor and
motivation to lose the weight. In January 2008, I even broke my ankle
on both sides after slipping on black ice, I had to have surgery and 6
screws put in my fibula. I was still so determined I was still able to
lose the weight. My mind was made up that no matter what, it was
coming off.

How Jill lost the weight
I
logged my food, ate six small meals a day and had no refined sugar.
Finding out I had Type 2 diabetes helped me have a paradigm shift in
the way I think, and I did a lifestyle change versus a diet. Four days
a week, cardio mixed with weight training was my exercise routine. In
January, I had a personal trainer sponsor Rebecca Carington training
sessions to get ready for the Mrs. Idaho pageant. It was wonderful to
learn from a trainer, she really cared about me and saw the potential I
could reach and I did.
I did the Mrs. Idaho pageant after
losing a total of 100 pounds, and I made the top six out of 16 amazing
woman. I am now a motivational speaker to motivate others to lose
weight and get healthy. I am a diabetes advocate. It brings me great
joy to share my story with others -- and in doing so, I inspire them to
"get up and get moving!"

Additional Comments :
I love helping others by sharing my story. I just got back from New
York taping the Dr. OZ show. It will air on March 4th, 2010. I will be
mentoring 3 wonderful ladies in there quest to a healthier lifestyle.

What
Inspired you to lose weight?

I was
reaching the 200 pound mark and needed to do something quick.
I did not want to see that scale tip beyond this mark.
|
| Weight
Loss Tip #1 |
Change
your current habits. You have to get up off the couch or
chair and get active. Go for a walk around the block, park
your car in the last spot at the grocery store and just get moving.
|
| Weight
Loss Tip #2 |
Eat
healthier! This doesn't mean you have to give up all the
foods that taste good. Just keep certain foods in moderation
and for special occassions. Get in the veggies, drink lots of
water and count the calories.
|
| Weight
Loss Tip #3 |
Build
lean muscles. For those ladies who are afraid you will look
like Hulk Holgan, don't worry. Doing strength training
doesn't mean you are going to bulk up. Use resistance bands,
dumbbell weights or the machines at your local gym. Muscles
help burn calories and speed up your metabolism.

The
tools! I track my calories and exercises daily with the free
download files on this site. Plus I use the online
calculators to calculate the calories burned during exercise as well as
the calories in the foods I eat.

Circuit
training! You get in both aerobics and strength training all
in one session. Believe me when I say you will feel this
workout. You may be tired right after but you will feel the
energy boost throughout the day - not to mention the number of calories
you are burning.

Tuna,
salad and one piece of light bread. Tuna is great for protein
and Omega-3. You can never go wrong with salads and it helps
fill you up. For me I have to have some carbs so I limit this
by having only one slice and I make it light whole wheat bread.

Inspired you to lose weight? |
I just
didn't want to look old and unhealthy
before my time. I take ballet classes and other dance classes and
wanted to have good body lines.
|
| Weight
Loss Tip #1 |
Stay
active! Dance, do the eliptical trainer,
bicycle. Do some kind of exercise every day. The lighter you
get, the more energy you'll have! Don't sit infront of the tv!
|
| Weight
Loss Tip #2 |
Eat
only when hungry. Use a George Foreman grill.
You'll love it!
|
| Weight
Loss Tip #3 |
Acai
helps boost metabolism but isn't a miracle cure.
Also, have a fitness partner. My boyfriend and I motivate
eachother to eat right and exercise.

What
Inspired you to lose weight?

I began
to realize how unhealthy I was. I saw my sister taking care
of herself and how energetic she was, I wanted to
feel that energy and experience the self-esteem that I had never had.
|
| Weight
Loss Tip #1 |
Don't
let one day's slip up get you down. If you don't get a good
workout in, or you eat that brownie, just remember that
tomorrow is another day. Don't ever give up!
|
| Weight
Loss Tip #2 |
Find
some really good music to listen to while doing cardio. For
me, music makes me go faster and push harder.
|
| Weight
Loss Tip #3 |
Find a
friend or relative to workout with. When you're having a lazy
day its nice to have someone who will be waiting for you at the gym or
the park to go for a jog. It pushes you to keep going.
