These simple chair exercises will stretch, lengthen and strengthen the
spinal cord for improved posture and balance.
Below are some tips on sitting correctly while in a chair.
-
Start in a standing position. Place your thumbs on the hip bones and
your forefingers on the pubic bone.
- Tilt your pelvis so both bones are level.
- Now sit down and try to maintain this position while
keeping the small natural curve at the base of the spine.
- Place your feet flat on the floor shoulder width apart and
pointing forwards. The hips and knees should be at a 90 degree angle.
- Roll your shoulders back and down. You should feel your
chest broadening and your shoulder blades moving down your
back.
- Lastly, make sure your head can move freely and that there
is a slight curve at the top of the spine. Your ears should be directly
over the shoulders.
Now that you have the steps to sit properly, let's move on to the
posture exercises.
